NASA finds good news on forests and carbon dioxide

A new NASA-led study shows that tropical forests may be absorbing far more carbon dioxide than many scientists thought, in response to rising atmospheric levels of the greenhouse gas. The study estimates that tropical forests absorb 1.4 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide out of a total global absorption of 2.5 billion -- more than is absorbed by forests in Canada, Siberia and other northern regions, called boreal forests.

interesting read. when you read NASA anywhere, you know it has to be about some brilliant stuff. im no scientist, so i just really tried hard to swallow all the explanations there, very interesting

on another note, deforestation by burning is just pure irresponsible. it has a negative on top of a negative effect, something we are taught in elementary science. it is very hard to comprehend how people still think of doing it. seems like the lazy option to do things, without regard for the planet's future beyond their own lifetimes
