This has some great options compared to CWM and it's touchscreen interface.

Already tested out. It works with 4.1.2, but if you've updated to 4.2.1, it may not work.
Some of the Features of TWRP
• Power off from recovery (CWM just has reboot)
• Can save custom recovery settings
• Ability to choose what you want backed up or restored (eg, just system, system and data, system/data/cache etc...)
• Default partitions to backup
• Default zip folder location
• Lots of default color themes
• Default Time Zone
• Zip Signature Verification
• Zip md5 Verification (looks for file with zipname.zip.md5)
• Ability to flash multiple zips in one go
• Compressed backup option (saves about 40% space but slower)
• Ability to auto restore GAPPS on zip flash (for CM based ROMS)
• Ability to auto reboot after successful flashes
• Some devices utilize their capacitive buttons in recovery
• Home - Main Menu
• Menu - Advanced Menu
• Back - Up a Menu Level
• Search - Select Current Selection
• Battery Level and Timestamp
Files needed:
• [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] (Note, this is the newest version as of this post). Use this or a newer version, versions older than a week or so from the date of this thread likely won't work with MTK6589
• [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register], which includes TWRP recovery, MTK6589 ADB drivers, and superuser
• Your phone
• USB cable

Quick and dirty:
• Install MTK6589 ADB Drivers and verify in device manager
• Copy superuser zip to your external SD
• Run Flash Tool and load appropriate scatter
• Turn Off Phone, pull out the battery for 5 seconds and put it back in
• Click 'Download' on Flash Tools
• Plug in Phone - You will see it install the recovery. It should finish with a green circle
• Boot into recovery by holding vol+ and power together
• Select 'update from SD'
• Navigate to the previously copied superuser zip and select it
• Reboot and verify root
Gizbeat won't be held responsible if your phone bricks or dies. You attempt at your own risk.
