Yes, don't worry about the rooting steps. Just follow the steps regarding how to install the ADB drivers and use SP Flash Tool. Just take it step by step and don't flash over your bootloader. You should be fine. Let us know your results.

The main reason to install CWM is to root if you can't root any other way. Also to install firmwares and easily install SD Updates/Patches. Though there is now an app that supposedly can install some SD Updates from within Android.

You can backup your entire install with CWM as well, but I rarely use that option. I just backup apps/data with Titanium. CWM also makes it easier to backup your firmware through MTK Droid Tools, which is different than a CWM backup/restore. I believe you should relatively easily be able to find a backup for the Xiaocai G6, so that's maybe not of concern. The truth is that I've rarely used custom reco except for flashing SD Update firmwares.

Possibly greatest reason to do it? Because you can. Thumbs Up That's what half the fun of owning an Android mobile is.

Hi Gizbeat, could you please tell me what's exactly the app name, I found Mobileuncle MTK Herramientas but I don't know if it is what you refer to, furthermore the screenshots shown of the app I found are images in Chinese. Although such I don't have Play Store in my phone I have to access through the web and download is not available, could you please upload it to the forum?. I don't understand what you mean with "don't flash over your bootloader" my English is not too good and my knowledge about Android are even worst. How can I avoid to flash over the bootloader? I've never heard about it before, I have to look for info about what is it.
At this moment I haven't yet install anything on the phone. The reason why I want to save a copy of the ROM before everything is because I read that if there would have been any problem after installations is very important to have a backup of it. Like is my first time "putting my hands on" (is that right saying?) Android I am scared to damage the phone with no return and I am trying to backup everything possible, as far as I know, if needed in the future ROM and IMEI. I didn't find any backups of this model of mobile phone.
"CWM also makes it easier to backup your firmware through MTK Droid Tools, which is different than a CWM backup/restore." do you mean that you can backup/restore ROM with MTK Droid Tools (sorry about my English) without have installed CWM?

Really thanks, I'm trying to leave everything the most tied up as possible before put my hands on the inside of the phone.

Regards

Hi Gizbeat, I read that the bootloader is the program that is used to start the phone. My mobile phone, Xiaocai G6, has dual boot, I really never used it in fact I don't know how to change the boot but I don't care, I don't know if when you said don't flash the booltoader you refer to that, so could you tell me how to don't flash it. Just want to install the CWM and after that copy the ROM. I'll really appreciate if you could answer the questions in my latest post.
Thanks
Please, really need your help to continue hope you answer my questions because I'm totally lost and stuck for a long time ago.

You don't flash over your preloader by making sure it's not checked in SP Flash Tools when you flash.
Ok, thanks I see what you refer to, just check the needed checkbox. What I've just have seen is that in the tutorial [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] said that just recovery checkbox must be checked but in one of your messages in 07-31-2013 you told me that you have to check also the boot checkbox. I don't know If you got confused when writing or that part of the tutorial is changed, what is the correct way?.

Furthermore I would like to backup both IMEI's. Looking for what the app you told me I found Mobileuncle MTK Herramientas, I don't know if this one was what you refer to. If so through the web it isn't possible to download and I don't have yet Google Play, I wonder If you could upload.

Really thank you for help until now, hope help with the, I think, last 2 problems.
Regards
Hi, must recovery and boot checkbox must be checked or just the recovery? Is point number 6 in the tutorial. And what about Mobileuncle MTK Herramientas is that the app you meant? Could you upload it to mean I don't have Google Play Store yet so I can't download anything.
Regards.
You're flashing boot.img and recovery, yes? So you need to check both.

Yes, I was confused because there was a conflict between those two messages. What could you tell me about Mobileuncle MTK Herramientas?
