ALLVIEW - REFUSE TO RELEASE MTK 64BIT OFFICIAL STOCK ROMS
#1
As many of you know by now, many smartphones manufacturers use Mediatek chipsets in their freshly released devices.
One of the companies that use Mediatek chipsets on their smartphones comes from Romania, by the name of ALLVIEW, a subsidiary of GIONEE.
As an owner of several of their devices, I was able to maintain them, service them and improve their performance only because of my personal skills.
But if you are a regular user, who does not know the whole potential of an Android device or maybe you don't care too much, if you run into a problem with the software running on one of their devices you must turn to their service network that will handle the problem, more or less, but for a fee. Also in many cases, they will try to bullshit you that the problem occured because of your fault.
Recently they released a new line of Android smartphones, running on MTK 64 bit chipsets and I politely asked them to release the official stock roms (including the scatter files) for these devices to be available to their curtomers, in case they want to restore their smart phones after a software problem or crash, and be able to make a backup in case something goes wrong.

The ALLVIEW Support & Service Department spokesman - Daniel Sarbu, replied as follows:
"For confidentiality reasons stock ROM products can not be offered.
If you want a resoftare or dwngrade, these operations are performed in our authorized service workshops."

I sent a new request with the remark that this poses no privacy problem because they do not have license to Android OS, and ask them politely again to release the official stock roms for MTK 64 bit devices, for personal use of their customers. It is for the company to prove that a customer uses firmware for purposes other than for personal use or to earn money from selling it illegally. I also told them that is everyone's choice if he wants to void the warranty of the product.
I also told them that I reserve the right to refer to all institutions in law, to investigate these issues.
More so, I tried several times to post reviews (with good and bad issues) about their products on their own pages, using a polite language and being as objective as possible, but it seems that they censor customer opinions before posting them, if they do not like the subject.

Again, the ALLVIEW Support & Service Department spokesman - Daniel Sarbu, replied as follows:
"Unfortunately, the stock rom can not be provided."

So, I agree with the fact that ALLVIEW and other manufacturers like GIONEE must be forced to release their roms to the customers, because from the moment you bought the device it becomes your property and you may do whatever you want with it.

Any suggestions or proposals from you are welcome.

The only thing that they supose to give free acces is the kernel. I blieve that you know that their android version is customized and is their property. I wish that they have an open way to encurage development. Wish you good luck on your fight but 50% of guilt is MTK company, because they are thery closed regards their SDK and source.

So, how can you hope to recover you device from a potential crash if you do not have the full ROM to work with?
You should just accept the situation and throw your phone as garbage?
You shoul depend on the manufacturer's service network and pay him every time you have a problem?
This is not a correct attitude towards the customer from the manufacturer.
Nobody asked the phone manufacturer to customize the firmware.
In fact this is not about revealing any secrets. It is about giving the customer the chance to recover his device from a crash, and if so happen that a customer has the knowledge to develop the firmware and improve the performance, good for him.
If the phone manufacturer has any suspicion about anyone using the rom for illegal purposes it has to prove it.

Most serious and even most non-serious brands offer ROM support downloads.

They have no idea what they're talking about "confidentiality" :hahaha: Nobody can do anything with their stupid ROM.

Thank you for letting us know Allview stance on this subject. That means stay away from Allview phones for sure. Whether you're a modder or not. Sometimes OTA can brick a phone too. Need stock ROM to recover.

You are absolutely right.
If you receive updates only by fota and something goes wrong with you internet connection, you can kiss your phone good-bye.
That is why it is mandatory and common sense to provide the full rom to the phone user.
Phone manufacturers like Allview are just lazy these days, when storage space is available for cheap. At the same time their attitude shows that they do no have any consideration for the customers, NO RESPECT whatsoever. This kind of attitude does not honor any company that wants to build a strong image in the market and its customers.
I believe that all software developer communities and all the other people that are just regular smart phones users should unite under a common cause to determine companies like Allview to review its product support policy.

So, yesterday I asked ALLVIEW Support & Service Department if it is possible to buy the official stock rom for MTK 64 bit devices and if so, where from and for how much.
I expected them to reply that it is not possible. But suprise! Their answer is as follows:

"For information regarding your request please send an email to [email protected] or place a call to call-center number 0368.403.160.

I will pursue this lead also and I will be back with an update.

Given the issues presented in the first post, if you want a full backup of your ALLVIEW smartphone running on MT67xx chipsets, you can follow the steps from the following tutorial: BACKUP, CUSTOM RECOVERY AND ROOT FOR MT67xx SMARTPHONES

The tutorial can also be used for any smartphone running on MT67xx chipsets, if you can not find an official firmware release from the manufacturer.

Thank you!

Somehow I screwed it up and I only can enter the preloader mode.
It doesn't turn on anymore...

I have an Allview P9 Energy MTK6755..

Do you have the stock rom? Or any method to get it running again

Thanks!
