[Question] Backup before root ??

Help.
Should I run some kind of backup before attempting root?
How?

It seems some of the procedures recommend a backup.

I don't know which comes first, the root or the backup.

Dont worry the backup before root. Recommend try framaroot first. That the easiest.

that way you can restore original condition.
if you have mtk cpu you can do a full backup with mtk tools

Exactly what software should I use to back up my 6592 (THL W200S) phone BEFORE I have ROOT privlidges? Supply a link for software download if possible.

Is there more than one set of MTK tools? Is any MTK tool actually provided by MTK?

I just want to be able to restore the phone to original state if something goes awry with rooting or future ROM changes/updates

The opposite can also be said Linrj. There is no need for MTk droid tool and sp flash tool for rooting. Especially if you have a one tap/click root tool

defields, there is not a need to do a backup if use the auto root tools in terms of ruining your phone. There is no danger. Especially with the one i link to. It will fail or it will succeed, but it won't ruin your phone. That is sure. in regard to updating ROM in future, future ROM update will wipe the currently rooted ROM anyway.

Most the guides are written simply. Yes, they don't tell you about where left mouse button is, and what it mean to click your mouse. Otherwise, anyone basically computer literate should be able to follow it. don't try to take all at once. just take it a step at a time and you be okay. If you have specific question about tutorial. Ask in that tutorial thread.

to answer some your first question. the MTK droid tool is one tool. There are different version. Always use the newest version. Simple click the MTK Tools area of this forum. no, it's not made by mtk.

usually backup requires root. I always root 1st then mmediately backup.

mtk droid tools do not require root to backup the phone.
if you want to use eg. Titanium Backup then yes.
i am weary of one-click-root since i heard some of them install you background programs which you cannot get rid of anymore.
same as with the mobileuncle tools which "call home".
maybe i am just a bit paranoid, but if talking about root, for me only SuperSU and Superuser are "safe" programs.
