Quote:Itskov also says that by the year 2025 he expects autonomous life-support system for the human brain linked to a robot, which means he will be on a hold of technology that could implant the human brain into a robot. By the year 2035 a human should be able to upload there brain into a robot and by the year 2045 we will be replaced by holograms or our body will be. “We will transform into a new species, when this will happen” says Itskov.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Anything is possible.
Except it won't be us. It will be Chinese clones of the brand known as homo sapiens sapiens
It is not immortality per ce, it is a transfer of the brain contents.

I think it's only a matter of time. We will conquer anything the laws of the universe allows, and probably do things it doesn't allow and/or bend/change the laws.
We will travel through time. We will become immortal (literally, in the sense that we will defeat aging). We will be able to upload the entire contents of our brain... And have it be conscious. Or even transfer it to a cloned body.
What I wouldn't do to be born a couple few hundred years in the future. We just missed the boat.

Sorry Gizbeat..you might end growing up in the radioactive desert.
I don't regret anything. It is quite fascinating time we live in. And it's been 68 years since we had a big war.
As of immortality..I recall what Jonathan Swift and Jorge Borges wrote about this..I can refer you to the sources if you wish..it is not as nice as it seems..
If you transfer your consciousness to another body, it won't help your current consciousness. Like having a son which is 100% like you, but he is a different person anyway.
Sorry for being so pragmatic

Yes, it's possible nothing will be left in the future.
I also agree this is a fascinating time to live in. We are relatively lucky in terms of history so far.
As to not wanting to live forever, that's bull. It's just a defense feeling because it's impossible at this point. It's extremely rare for someone to say 'i want to die', or I've lived long enough, time to die. Yea, okay, if there's no other option, or if you're living constantly in pain and crippled by age, obviously that's the most peaceful way to go and maybe death is welcomed. But healthy in all aspects? No way. Even ancient and decrepit, we still cling to life with every last breath.
As to your last paragraph, when I said everything, I mean everything. Including your conscience, memory, feelings will be able to be cloned to another body. It would be you in EVERY sense. We will even be able erase the memory that we've moved to a different body if we chose. Assuming we don't blow ourselves up first, it will happen. It's only a matter of time.
