Huawei is set to release a diverse router that can be used as a set-top box, for Internet TV or NAS for data backup.
The router will one dual core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, dedicated to multimedia with Android 4.2 in command, and a second dual core processor clocked at 1.0GHz, dedicated to router funcitons.
Furthermore, the Rongyao Lifang will have 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, with provision for SD. Wifi bands supported include 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual band (2.4GHz/5.0GHz), with TCP/IP protocol. It supports HDMI output for TV connection, and provides 2 ethernet ports.
The box also allows Miracast sharing over wifi, which is compatible with any Android system version 2.3 or higher, or any iOS system with version 5.0 or higher.
Video formats supported include mkv, avi, DivX, wmv, mp4, rm, rmv, asf. Audio capabilities go all the way to uncompressed FLAC formats. Covering all bases, Huwaei has implemented a 1TB hard drive for storage, which is expandable to 4TB by hard drive replacement.
The Rongyao Lifang is not yet available for sale, but has already been listed on Amazon.
