5.7"+ WCDMA 850/900/2100 = Mission Impossible?
#1
I need to buy a phone for my wife...

She is after something fast, with FHD preferably 6.0" to 6.5" , but will consider downsizing to 5.7"

Must be thin..9.0mm or thinner

MUST have a good battery life

And the hardest thing, Must work in Australia on the WCDMA 900/2100 (Optus) bands, and in Philippines on the 850 band (Globe)
Would love 4G/LTE, but am willing to forgoe that if i can get decent 3G speeds at least.

So far, apart from Samsung I havent been able to find anything..

Would prefer to keep the price down below $400 USD max...preferably much lower..

Anyone got any helpful ideas? Anything coming out shortly that might do it?

Lenovo k910 vibe z. Pentaband wcdma (works worldwide), dual sim, 3000mah battery, 7.9mm thin and very light, Snapdragon 800, 2.2ghz and quick as hell, but 'only' 5.5 inches, only 16gb storage and no sd slot (l use Google Drive). $399 online. Best value for money on high end phones. I just got mine and love it. Or you can get the 4g-lte k910L in a single sim.

Take a look at Huawei mate 6.1. bigger, but excellent phone and standard android.

Also h9008 or mlais mx69t. But dont buy from Merimobiles, they have sold some fake.

Huawei Mediapad X1, but it is a 7" display.

OnePlus One will be out soon. Looks like a beast for the price, but it is 5.5" display.

The huawei is next closest but looks pretty old on specs?

The Mate 2 is 2gb RAM and has LTE as well as pentaband WCDMA.

Supposedly MX69T has worked out battery issues in latest firmware, but can't confirm. If it were me, I'd go with the Mate or the Vibe Z.

Thanks for that!

The Mate 2 is probably going to be the closest...(MX69T is closer, but I am highly concerned about the battery life and false claims etc being made by the producer)

Mate2 is a bit fat..and the screen is not FHD..However I am sure I can tell my wife its an upgrade from her old Samsung Galaxy Note (v1)

Which model of Mate2 would be best?
Model MT2-L00: GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz); UMTS (B1/B2/B5/B8); TDD LTE (B41(2535~2575MHz));

Model MT2-L02: GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz); TD-SCDMA (B34/B39); TDD LTE (B38/B39/B40/B41(2575~2635Mhz));

Model MT2-L03: GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz); UMTS (B1/B2/B4/B5); LTE (B2/B4/B5/B17)

I am unsure what all that gobbledigook actually means lol

I know she will be using Amaysim in Australia which uses the Optus network, which i believe is band 900.. (for 3G)
and Globe in Philippines which is band 850.. (for 3G)

Unsure on the 4G/LTE requirements (I know my Samsung S3 4G works in both countries..but it has almost all bands available on one phone from what I can see..)

Any help greatly appreciated!

Which of the forum suppliers would be the most reliable to send one of these phones (and not send a clone/copy/junk phone!)

Globe information I have found (But can not decipher to figure which model would work best?)
Globe Telecom
GSM Frequency Band - 900 MHz/1800 MHz (Dual Band)
3G Frequency Band- WCDMA (UMTS) - 850Mhz/2100 MHz
UMTS/3G 1900(uplink)/2100(downlink) (Dual Band)
4G (live LTE, WiMAX, HSPA+, test, license) - 4G Globe HSPA+ WiMAX 1800Mhz (Launch Date: September 2012)

And Optus information:-

4G provides coverage using 1800MHz spectrum and is known by its techie name FD-LTE (Frequency Division – Long Term Evolution). 4G is available in parts of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay, Toowoomba, Perth, Adelaide, Coffs Harbour, Wollongong and the Newcastle/Hunter regions.

4G Plus 4G Plus provides coverage using 2300 MHz spectrum and is known by its techie name TD-LTE (Time Division – Long Term Evolution). Optus is the only provider in Australia to use TD-LTE technology. 4G Plus is available in parts of Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
COVERAGE: With 3G devices, you are able to access our 3G (2100Mhz/900Mhz) Network. With 4G devices and a compatible plan, you are able to access our entire 3G Network and 4G (1800Mhz) Network. With 4G Plus devices and a compatible plan, you can access all areas of the Optus Network, including our 3G, 4G & 4G Plus (2300Mhz)

And I wonder why I am totally confused..sigh..

Well either of these will give you the 3G or HSPA+ that you need:
MT2-L00: GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz); UMTS (B1/B2/B5/B8); TDD LTE (B41(2535~2575MHz))
Model MT2-L03: GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz); UMTS (B1/B2/B4/B5); LTE (B2/B4/B5/B17)

UMTS and WCDMA are one in the same and both of those models have the bands you need. Unfortunately none of them have 1800mhz LTE though.

EDIT: MT2-L02 will provide LTE in Aus but no data in the Philippines. Missed the 2300 "4G Plus" aka band 40/B40.
