[Question] My goal is to install Gapps 4.2.2 on my china (probably clone SN1-9A-F) phone.
#1
Hi Giz and fellow china phone searchers,

Thank you Giz for your clear tutorials.

I successfully gained ROOT shell access using MTKDRT2.5.3

Last night I followed your tutorial using MTKDroidRootTools 2.5.3 I created two images as you indicate:
SM-N900_141024__boot_patched_150210-000917.img
SM-N900_141024__recovery_150210-000917.img

You mention in one sentence at the end that this is a CWM and should be used to Flash the ROM.

1- My first question (I'm really a newbie) is why do I want to flash the ROM of the telephone with the information MTKDRT imported from the telephone?

2 - My second question is to clarify : I'm unsure if you mean I should flash both image files or which one? In any particular order?

My goal is to install Gapps 4.2.2 on my china (probably clone SN1-9A-F) phone.

MTKDRT info:

MT6752
SM-N900 *
Android 4.2.2
snapshots of MTKDRT results here : [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] ; and [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

* On the label under the battery, it is noted N9006

Thank you in advance for your advice on how to achieve my goal.

I replied on the other and I'm putting it here

Take this SM-N900_141024__recovery_150210-000917.img
And change the filename to only recovery.IMG
Then using sp flash tool or mobilebuncle tools install it.

Now download this
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]?
It is for 4.2.2
And save it in the SD card. Then boot in recovery and install it...

When you're in recovery choose "Install zip from SD card" its 5th item.

Thank you very much.

I did this and now have :

you tube (but I can't sign in), google search (no sign in either), maps (no geolocalisation for the moment);

g+, play, talk all ope'nshut.

and connecting to google play via another browser just gets me the "This browser no longer supported... use google play."

Gmail does not exist ... at all... not even an icon.

So, my newbie thoughts about Google Services access. It seems that the ban is written someplace and needs to be changed or erased. Where could that be and how can I change that ?

Or else I'm totally wrong and there is a different fix for this ???

Since this post, I have also loaded into the system \app folder
Google_Play-v3.8.17.apk
GoogleLoginService.apk
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
And rebooted.

However, the desired effect - Gmail etc - didn't happen.

ES permissions in properties verified : rw/r/r .
I checked each google related apk, and all the apks that I had flashed in to the MOUNTED system in recovery mode.

When I reboot, I get Popup notifications :
"Unfortunately, Googl+ has stopped."

and

"...OneTime has stopped..."

I have a Red G+ icon. When I click on it, I get a popup that I need Google Play Services on this phone.

I now have a gmail shortcut. When I click on it, it opens, I see the beginning of the page layout and POF it disappears.

It seems as the the BAN or DENIAL of Google on this phone is not responding to replacing the apk manually in the system/app folder .

Where do I turn that ban off ???

Did you put in google play services?
I don't think there is a ban.
Why put in system app folder? I never done it that way. You already have cwm why not install from there?

Thank you very much for your mail.
You asked me why I don't install it from cwm.
But I don't know what that means exactly, how do I do that please, please ?

Thank you,

Sorry, I was wrong. Its apk. You can save the apks anywhere and open it to install them.
But I think your way is now right.
Not sure why you are getting problems. I will dig and let you know! Smiling

Something that I feel the need to bring up here.

I had a similar problem long ago. The ONLY fix (and I mean the only, I tried everything) was to:

1. Wipe the phone from CWM - davlink, all cache, etc
2. Install clean ROM.
3. DO NOT REBOOT
4. Immediately wipe all cache (don't ask why, but wouldn't work otherwise)
5. Install a signed .zip Gapps (only an older 4.2 version seemed to work in this) in CWM.
6. Shut phone down.
7. Boot phone and go through initial Google setup
8. Reboot
9. Go to Play Store and update everything.

I'm sure you have already done something similar or exact by your posts, but if not, it may be worth a shot.

Dear ed,
Thank you for digging. I especially appreciate the detail.
I'm not sure what you mean by " Install clean ROM" .
I used MTKDR&T2.5.3 to do both the backup and recovery image.
Is this a clean ROM ?
I used MobileUncle Tools to :
1- flash the recovery.img then
2- mount the system then
3- install the gapps.zip 4.2.2

If by " Install clean ROM" you mean a ROM extern, genre Cyanogen, I have not yet found a ROM for my chinaclone. I would love to tinker with cyanogen ;o)

I would like to execute your method as precisely as you indicate. It seems to be the most meticulous that I had not even thought of.
