Yes My thl 4000 is rooted. Currently there is CWM recovery installed on it but would like PhilZ. I've tried your steps exactly as you have written but at the last step, it shows and error and exits

You can try to download the original stock rom of your device and put the stock recovery.img during the installation of Easy Magic PhilZ Touch Installer. Or to try to make a backup of your device with MTK Droid Root & Tools v 2.5.3 , and put the recovery.img during the installation of Easy Magic PhilZ Touch Installer.

MTK Droid Tools won't start due to the following error:
"The program can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is misisng from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

Reinstalling does not help and I see that the dll file is present in the adb folder within the MTK Droid Tools folder.

Now where can I find the original stock ROM. The one ROM I've downloaded from needrom website contains Carliv Touch Recovery.

I suggest you to try different versions of drivers for Windows:

6)pdaNET_4150.zip
7)PDAnet-64bit.zip
REMEMBER to disable driver Signature Enforcement on Windows 8.
When you will find the proper driver, you'll try to use MTK Droid Tools.
I've found the original stock rom for your device (I've sent you the link on the private message). Anyway, Nexus Trix has given to you the better solution.

Amazing! It worked!!! I flashed PhilZ using SP Flash Tools. Everything seems to work except Aroma File Manager. Any idea how to get it working?
