Hey Danny! Thanks for coming by!

What features are you looking for in a phone?
Perhaps you can at least answer the following:

What is your budget?
What is your preferred screen size?
Do you know what frequencies your cell phone carrier uses?

As far as the rest goes, I think the answer is probably "more/faster/awesomer is better" unless you have specific qualities you really want to be particularly outstanding (i.e. battery life, GPS lock, camera, etc).

Thanks Danny! It's great to see you've done your research!

I'm writing from my phone right now so this will be brief, but one of the most capable and popular suggestions we have right now in the budget range is the Doogee DG550. Gizbeat gave a sweet review of the phone here. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

For a few more bucks, the iNew V8 has been turning a lot of heads. I bought it for my girl and she has really enjoyed it. It came with KitKat and has had two updates to the OS since.

I really like my THL T200C, and therefore have no hesitations recommending the higher end THL phones. I haven't heard many things about their budget offerings though.

Everything I've heard about Xiaomi has been positive, but I haven't had any personal experience. Yet. Smiling

Doogee and THL owner here.

Doogee seems like the best bang for the buck, good build quality.

That having been said, assuming you research what things are "must haves" (frequencies, screen size, resolution, ram, rom, battery power, dimensions, and overall capabilities), it is easier to find exactly what you need - and it would seem for the most part that THL has all the bases covered with a great reputation.

My THL seems to be tough as a box of rocks, for whatever that's worth.

Good luck friend!

There are older phones that are going for peanuts right now and are great bargains given their fantastic specs. 2014 hasn't brought any great leaps in features imho and kitkat has screwed up the sd card dynamic (just my opinion). I have a Lenovo k910. I'll be buying the Lenovo Vibe Z2 when it becomes available. But my requirements have more to do with dual sim, pentaband wcdma and lte considerations.

Hello mate from the UK as well. I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note and it is a brilliant phone, had it over a month now with no problems at all, the thing rocks.
