Dumb phone is stable and protected against depreciation while it sits on the shelf.
Dumb phone + external battery pack is less than $60.
I "might" go for it. There was something about $6.74 T-mo phone from CVS
I can talk to God on this phone, but I don't have anything to say.

You spent less money on your phone than I spent on my burrito.
Not bad for an "insurance policy" you'll hopefully never have to use. Way to go, man!

Check your local CVS. Nice phone with FM radio, camera, camcorder, microSD card slot etc. For $6.24, + tax, lol.
As of "never need", you never know. I've been waiting for missus on the parking lot couple of days ago and played with my i6000. All of sudden I could not start it up. It wanted more juice for the battery. It was a good 10 minutes waiting time until I was able to start it up. Certainly did not like the situation.
Imagine, just 15-16 years ago cell phones were unnecessary novelty

That sounds like a nightmare. One minute you're happily fiddling with your uber-gadget. The next you're faced with the threat of enduring endless undistracted shopping. Sheer terror. Risk mitigation must be sought.

Holy crackers, $6.74 is cheap. That's not an Android phone though, but I guess it's best for the basic stuff. Actually, those kind of phones are the ones I recommend people to bring while moving/commuting along dangerous places. I also like those kind of phones because they can last for days.
Just curious, are the reaally cheaper android phones even worth buying? I have an old one and it's so slow.
