Converted 850/2100 to 900/2100

There are a couple of threads dedicated to this and a lot of users tried it, but no success.
It looks like it is hardware related issue.

Right. It would require some equipment to tune the antenna to work on another frequency.

The Vodafone Hungary provide 3G in 900MHz band and it's work fine with 900MHz.

@janek69,please can you write how you know it works on 3G 900Mhz?
You can add this as my screenshot, where you see that I can not activate this option
Thanks

Vodafone is also 2100.

Please video document this:

Disable 2100 in MTK engineering
Power off the phone
Remove battery and show label under the battery.
Restart phone and show in engineering that only 900 is still selected.
Connect to data and show H/H+.

As @sniper47 has stated, this remains a rumor until it can be shown.

I'm not sure why the people saying they've changed their 850 to 900 are so against taking 10 minutes out of their day to show it. If you truly have succeeded, it should not be a problem.

You need to change the modem_1_wg_n.bin file from 1.0.6 WCDMA 900 firmware and a system reset.
You can find it in /system/etc/firmware
After that you can find 900MHz in engineer mode.

The user Burs is from Hungary also.
If it is that easy, why iNew provide to different roms, one for 850 and one for 900 model??

Guys, I do not understand your problem. You always says there is no way to change a 850 phone to 900 phone. I think an unsucceeded experimetn does not show that it is not possibble but your experiment fail only.

I do not know who is Burs, we have a great community in Hungary around InewV3 but nobody registered with this nick.

I have no Vodafone SIM, so I can not provide any proof to you. My main problem was that Telenor SIM didn't work on WCDMA/3G active, call was interrupted in dial. We searched the solution for this problem most.
At the very first release of 1.0.1wcdma900 ROM we realised that the 3G bug is fixed with that ROM install but it has several other bugs with 850 originated models (e.g. screen driver problem...). We knew the solution is there somewhere. People with Vodafone SIM were reported working 3G on 900MHz after flash on 850 model.
This is true with the new 1.0.6wcdma900 ROM.

I do not understand you guys. If you encounter the miss of 900MHz why don't you flash 1.0.6 and try it? Only 5 minutes to flash. If you doesn't care about 900MHz why do you need proof?

We do not want to force anybody, we found something and shared to the community here.

In addition we succeeded to change any 850 ROM to 900 with working 3G Telenor:
- overwrite the modem files with 1.0.6 modem files (I did the whole etc/firmware folder)
- delete the NVDATA folder all (of course make a backup first)
- restart the device
- it will start to search network and will generate a new NVDATA folder which is 3G bug free
Now you can use your 3G network (H/H+) and make calls.
I read here it is not only Hungarian Telenor SIM bug and there are lots of network providers in Europe who's 3G is break calling. Would be nice if some other people from other counties confirm this fix works.

Here is a screenshot with Telenor Hungary active H/H+ and bandmodes:

There is no problem. Everyone I'm certain appreciates your contribution. And I am not accusing anyone of not telling the truth, however I do believe there is a possibility that people are mistaken.

- Hundreds and hundreds have tried before you to switch 850 to 900, so if you have succeeded, let us see it. Not everyone has iNew V3 850/2100. Other users of other phones I think would enjoy seeing this accomplished as well.
- It is extremely curious why no one who has done it has agreed to post a simple video as outlined above.
- That your bug is currently fixed is not in question. What is in question is swapping 850 to 900. Which before now has been impossible. It is not only about you fixing your bug. It is about showing something that previously had been impossible as possible.

So if someone has done this, please take 10 minutes out of your day and post a video as outlined above. It really is not difficult. If you don't have the correct network to do this with, then perhaps another user could.

Hi

I hope you don't mind my 2 cents worth?

I was excited by MTK engineering image similar to yours but I was correctly advised you need to disable all bands included 2G and have only the one you want to test.....then do a full reboot before trying to make a call.

Unfortunately for me, and I hope not for you.....this killed my joy. Apparently it was a poor ROM build to have un-greyed out or bold boxes for frequencies not available for my device.

good luck

@junkpod

Hundreds of people did try that with no success. If you manage to achieve it, congratulation, but I need some proof in order to believe you.

Burs is a guy who spent dozens of hours trying this with no success too.
He did experiment NOT only with a rom of the 900 model but with nvram files too.
He reported back after he read a lot at internet and after his tries that this is a hardware related issue and you cannot switch bands softwarely.
If you read the topic that I told you before you will see what all of us are seeing.
