Lenovo s850 root (mtk6582/4.4.2)

I uninstalled a few system apps on my s850 which came pre rooted. I got security issue on phone with android icon. I found an official rom on a russian forum and flashed it. It came on and is now working but it has nvram null in wifi and both imei are missing.

I found the program to restore imei but I need root but cant seem to root it with the auto tools. Is there a method to root so I can restore imei numbers?

hi, siewarner. Welcome to the forum!

Please see this tutorial. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
This should enable you to build CWM unrooted. Once you have that, you can root from recovery. Download this [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] place it in your SDcard's root directory, then install it from recovery.

Thanks for that. I just followed instructions and it took an hour to read back the rom but when added in droid toold it says Android_scatter.txtcopying is complete
-- preloader.bin - The signature isn't found!
--- ERROR of a signature, ROM file is read from phone incorrectly!
--- task end with ERROR ---

There is no existing line when you go to read back tab so I add new one and put start address and end address, is that correct?

framaroot generally works for most devices I have mt6582 but different phone

It has failed twice now so not sure why.

I put 0x000000007cd80000 and 0x7cd80000

OK, I see it. We are using different versions of SP Flash Tool, but I'm guessing the address formats are the same.
Enter Start Address: 0x0000000000000000
EDIT: Length: 0x7cd80000

BTW, I think this version of SP Flash Tool is more stable. You could give this a try. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
Make sure you are running Flash Tool as administrator, too.

It will not let me put that in length as its too long. Do I remove the 8 zeros?

Right, sorry. Do remove them. Also see the edit in my previous post. You can also try that version of flash tool.
