A MIUI V5 ROM has been released for the Goophone i9

This phone has similar specs to my HX-9299A
I've been looking up on how to port ROMs.
Most of the instructions relate to CWM flash able .zip files.
My stock ROM is only available as a .tar file (SPFlash) and the contents are very different. Can I convert my .tar format into a CWM flash able zip?
Thanks.

Just take the files from your phone, not the .tar file, because it's alot of easier, good luck trying to port MIUI, i tried couple of times but i failed, best thing is to port LEWA as it is pretty similar to MIUI.

Probably a stupid question, but how do I take the files from my phone?
Ive used SP Flash and MTK Android Tools but these strip it out in a 'non-ROM' format.
Thanks.

Get yourself mtk firmware adapter tool, it's way too easy to use and to port ROM, it can take all files without striping anything, i just found about it and ported MIUI V5 succesfully.

So I have managed to semi=brick my phone by flashing a ROM I made with MTK Firmware Adapter Tool. I cannot flash using SP Flash Tool as I get a BROM error (BROM cannot pass bootrom start command).
I still have CWM recovery can I convert my stock SP Flash Tool .tar to a CWM .zip to flash using CWM?
Thanks.
