[Question] How to increase charging current on MTK 6735
#1
Hello Friends,

I have LAVA X10 phone: Android 6.0 (June 2016 security patch). MTK 6735 SoC chipset which SHOULD have PUMP EXPRESS +.

NOT-ROOTED

CHarger: SONY CP-AD2 (5V/2.1A output)

Question: Phone is NOT fast charging with above charger and I cannot increase charging current with MTK Engineering Mode (Log and Debugging/BatteryLog menu). When I try to increase the current when charging, it says "Execute Failed"

Any idea how I can make phone fast charge without rooting???

Thank you. The Phoenix

Almost all MT6735 phones do not support fast charge or quick charge. It is up to many things, depending on battery and on main board and charging board, not only SOC. Rooting or not, you won't be able to fast charge.

I see.. that is unfortunate but at least I know not to waste any more money on fast chargers! Thanks. Any other replies from experts????

If device support for MTK PE (or( Q(uick)C(harge) for QUALCOMM) charge you must use another charger wich support voltage/current gradation like this

Sometimes I use native PE charger (Doogee ht6 SoC MT6735) also to charge ordinal(feature) phone without any fatal outcome. Charge process is at stage 5v(up to 2A) . Control by this

I think you will see the same charging from a normal 5V 2A, compared to the gradation chargers. That's my experience. I mean, if it's capable of more than 1A charging, there will be no difference between 5V 2A standard charger and graduated charger.

Unless the phone is really quick charge 3.0 or PE capable then it will go up to 9V and charge faster with 9V capable graduated chargers.

I purchased the phone in March 2016 and as far as i understand, it DOES have pump express + support. I also tried a Samsung adaptive fast charger with two outputs: 5v/2a & 9v/1.67a .. but phone still charge at only 5v/1a. To me it seems that somewhere in the software it is limiting the charging current.. Any more ideas?? Thanks for everyone's reply so far.

If not, it doesn't have PE. If it is, then it should come with a PE charger.

Almost always, the charger your phone comes with is the proper amperage and the phone won't charge faster regardless which charger you use.

Someone already mentioned in the thread, this is usually up the hardware charging board (USB board), mainboard, and battery. Yes, it can be limited in the kernel, but it's unlikely a manufacturer will use a higher spec board and deliberately cripple it in the kernel (though not impossible).
