[Question] how to get my apps and preferences on the scatter file?
#1
My Mediatek 6582 keeps crashing into bootloop and until someone can tell me why it does this and/or how to fix it, I have to keep reflashing the ROM using SP Flash tool. I have a stock ROM scatter file that I use to do this but then I have to re-load my apps and log into my accounts again. Not to mention root it and format the IMEI.
There must be a way for me to get my userdata, apps and preferences on the scatter file so that when it crashes and I have to re-flash it I don't have to reload all of this data. (I've created a scatter file using MTK Droid Tools but it doesn't have userdata, android or cache locations.)
Ultimately I would like to fix the bootloop problem but in the meantime, an easier/faster way to flash everything at once would help.

You can make a TWRP backup of data, then restore after the flash. Of course, this requires flashing TWRP for your phone (you can do it when you do SP Flash tool, just replace recovery with TWRP recovery in ROM folder).

There are also many apps that will backup and restore your data if you're rooted. (Search on Play Titanium, Helium, Nandroid backup).

okay, I already had a TWRP backup (I've tried many 'fixes' for this bootloop issue) and if I understand you correctly, I simply replace the recovery image file in the scatter file folder with the one from the TWRP backup file? I tried that and restarted everything to be sure it was using the new scatter file but it still loads the same settings, apps and preferences.

I've also tried some backup apps like Titanium, Super Backup, easybackup, etc. but all they do is save a copy of the apk files on my SD card and I have to reinstall them one by one and login/setup each app manually. Titanium has a batch restore if you upgrade to pro/premium.

If I try to flash a new custom ROM using recovery mode, I select 'update from SD card', choose the ROM file I've placed on the root of the SDC and nothing happens. My only option is to go back in the recovery menu (.../)

1. No, you need to replace stock recovery.img with the TWRP recovery (rename it recovery.img, or just point so flash tool.to the TWRP). Then you must copy the backed up TWRP data back to your phone, boot into TWRP and restore the backup.

2. These apps will backup and restore data. Titanium can do it as can others. Yes you might need to go Pro. And you will need to backup the backups to PC, and move them back to the phone after flash. There are some with "cloud" option as well.

3. You can't flash ROM from original recovery unless it's stock ROM. Custom ROM requires TWRP or SP Flash.
