When I insert battery and connect to cable, phone shows battery indicator with red bar down. On computer is connected MT65xx Preloader (as without battery). After such 4 seconds device is disconnected and phone shows battery with 99 or 100%. No other action.
Did anybody tried use original recovery to install UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip? I want only root, I don't need different recovery or ROM now.

Update - Looks like solved.
Most important is points 2.1.1-2.1.5 "Disable Signed Driver Enforcement"

After this, correct driver could be assigned, bad MT65xx Preloader has been changed to right Mediatek Preloader ... and "SP Flash Tool" finds phone and flashing of recoery works. In new recovery works UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip, so I have root and it looks that works gapps too.

Awesome. Disabling SDE is vital. Congratulations ;)
i did everything right ..when i want to do the recavery ..it shows me a dead android..what i should do?
Sry for my bad English, but section 3.6 says: The "Recovery" line, should be ticked off

I think you ment ON otherwise, if you press the Download button, it says: there's no file.

After that, i sucsessfully ROOTED my Star 5S!
Nice work!!!

Greetzzz Sjonnie
@Sjonnie: You are correct. But in english, I am fairly sure that "ticked off" means activated or whatever is suitable. The box should be checked.

@Antero: If you did everything after my guide, it should work. To get out of "dead android", hold power for 15 seconds or try removing your battery.
Why don't you try this method: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register].
I have use it and it works, and I am not a specialist

This tutorial was written before the auto-root came out. Also, that method won't give you a custom recovery.
I used the auto to root my s5, then when I try to install the recovery, sp flash tools give me an error when trying to select the scatter text, failing to write XML or something like that Angry[/align]

Thank you for the tip
I also used the autoroot from Gizbeat, it worked well.

I did have a question though:
Does flashing a custom recovery prevent you from updating the official stock rom?
Don't know if there ever will be a rom update from the update option inside the rom, but usually this doesn't work anymore with custom recovery.

If they even make the update available through an internal update, there SHOULDN'T be a problem, but if there's any issue with updating internally, just do it manually - The Star S5 will surely have the stock ROMs released as a download package.

In short, don't spend a second worrying about rooting keeping you from updating. You'll be able to update one way or another.
