Thx!!! I searched already a long time for a perfekt tutorial to root my new S5. So you saved me from giving up. Thanks for the great tutorial. Big Grin

Sincerely yours Joge
I have a Star S5 trying to root it and get all the way through the instructions OK until 3.8 and then the USB makes it's disconnect sound and nothing downloads. Tried the other method with the battery in but no Joy. Any other methods of keeping the phone usb connected long enough for the flas tool to get started?

I had the same. Solved it by connection the phone to the PC in the MTP mode than disconnecting while still in that mode and powering off and following all the steps.
If this doesn't help try the other mode. Hope this will help.

Normally you would connect your phone to the pc. Than you would get yhe notification "connected as........" there are 5 options.
1) usb storage, 2) Media Device(MTP), 3) Camera(PTP), 4) Charge only, 5) Build in cdrom.
Normally you can flash after you have disconnected the phone from the PC when USB storage was on. In my case that did not happened. Stuck after step 3.8. precisely like you! I connected the phone to my PC again and this time I ticked media device(MTP). Disconnected the phone from my PC, followed all the steps of the tutorial again and everything was flashed fine. If (MTP) mode does not work try option 3) Camera(PTP)mode.
I hope this will solve your problems.
Hello everyone, first I would like to thank you for the great tutorial, following it I could make root on my phone S5 Star Butterfly (Pulid S5). The bad news is that a few hours after the display is only black. The phone turns on and off, but can not see anything on the screen. Someone had the same problem? know help me?
I have made a guide for "How to root Star G9000 with MTK6592 chip", which contains installing the CWM Recovery.
Here it is:

Stuck on 1.6.4: box doesn't turn blue.

I then tried 1.7.x: small update in the manager, but no driver error sign appears.

Am I good to go, or not? Should I give part 2 a try?

Besides, I would like to backup my current ROM, when can I do that?

Thanks Embarrased
