I wish I come to the right place to seek help as I could not find other thread about meizu in this site. As I find some of you talking about the similar issue of IMEI gone etc. then prompt me to ask for help. Nevertheless, I wish some of you can help leading me to find a solution.
My meizu MX2 (m040) always saying "phone is off" but in fact sim is inside n is working if put into other mobile. Setting shows no IMEI, no SN, unknown baseband. It is now in Flyme OS 3.5.1 (11894) n is a HK version. see screenshots attached. Have once brought to HK official maintenance and they flashed the latest file named "Update.zip" (i.e. I think it is what you guys called stock ROM) that have problem solved at the beginning. but soon after back to same old problem again after power off n restart the phone. Then try a few time to flash it with the new baseband file obtained from the website like meizufan etc. and the same stock rom file used by the official maintenance staff but no longer work! Lastly I did the factory reset but can't resolve the problem. "the phone is off" at all time but other functions like wifi, playing music works fine.

I notice some advices here talking about using mobileuncle to write the new IMEI, is it able to solve the "phone is off" issues? Your advise is very much appreciated.

Tx for your response, I live in Hong Kong and I brought the meizu MX2 in Hong Kong too, I believe it is a wcdma phone as the official site [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] quoted "MX2:GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA+ 900/1800 MHz (2G), 2100 MHz (3G)". However, I have never checked and in fact do not know how to find out exactly whether it is wcdma or td-scdma. It has been working fine for more than one year but only recently gone wrong becoming "phone is off" at all time. I have installed mobileuncle but it does not reveal if wcdma or td-scdma in device info! Nevertheless, how does it relate to the problem now I am having?
Quote:I believe it is a wcdma phone
look again.....there are 2 variants please.

Quote:MX2: GSM / GPRS / EDGE / WCDMA / HSPA + 900/1800 MHz (2G), 2100 MHz (3G)

MX2 TD: GSM / GPRS / EDGE / TD-SCDMA / HSPA 900/1800 MHz (2G), 1880/2010 MHz (3G)

2)
Quote: do not know how to find out exactly whether it is wcdma or td-scdma

Some phones have a sticker underneath their battery to tell you if they are
wdcma or Td*

no need for photo have a look pls

b) while you are there, please check you have sim fully inserted the correct way.
we are all human so not suggesting you don't know what you are doing.

3) try going into system settings -> sim management

turn off sim
turn on sim

see if sim is detected

if no good I can not help any further with phone off message.

4) mobileuncle has a website
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]&hl=en
and an email address

unless the mods know ....it may be worth wile...if you have TD*
to email upstream maintainer and ask if TD* supported?

good luck

EDIT
5) this looks a mess
Quote: I think it is what you guys called stock ROM) that have problem solved at the beginning. but soon after back to same old problem again after power off n restart the phone.

I don't believe stock roms are called update.zip.

also you appear to have changed it.....and I am now thinking you have wiped your nvram area of flash.

can you contact that support team and find out exactly what they did and whether they
cleared davlik cache, cache and data before flashing
and then maybe did a factory reset.

I am suggesting they might be solution.

good luck
1), 2) & 3), MX2 can't see its battery unless it is disassembled to some extent. Nevertheless, I am pity sure it is a wcdma as I took it to singapore, sydney and it works very well in 3G / HSPAC both roaming and using local sim.

5) forget about the HK maintainence team as their advise is simple - pay HK$1,400 to change the mainboard which is a price more than enough to buy a new phone (of course other brand like Xiaomi).

4) I have installed mobileuncle but yet to try to rewrite the IMEI, will it be able to solve the problem of "phone is off"? I have done factory reset once and wiped off all data but still be the same. Or need to do something about the "nvram" you or some other guys talked about. Plse help.

Many tx in advance.

Mad
ok if phone worked in Sydney you definately have not got TD*
so normal mobileuncle to restore IMEI should work

now I don't have a nvram for you and I guess you have no backup?

what about the files you alluded to from that company

can you link to the update.zip

#######

can you link to any rom you think is official for your phone please.
if they are built for flashtools they may have nvram image.
It was recovered once by flashing file called "update.zip", but now failed as an error msge : " the system has been rooted., plse download a full package"! It seems the update.zip I got in root directory no longer works to restore the phone due to I rooted it after the first recovery. Any idea of how to proceeds? Shall I unroot it and try again? How to unroot it?

Looking forward to hearing from u.
I wish you would provide links that I ask for.

anyhow go to your app drawer....find the name of the root app

since we are not mind readers here, look for
su
kinguser
root

etc

it should have an option to unroot.

otherwise do it manually

from root file manager...find the apk
either in
/system/app/
/data/app

delete the apk

now go to
/system/xbin

do not delete su yet
delete daemonsu or words that effect

go into /etc/init.d and delete any su script
if not found go to
/system/etc/ and check there as well

finally delete su

full reboot of phone and test.
I don't have any backup apart from the update.zip copied into my phone root directory while I visited the maintainence office. They done the recovery in front of me so I then know how to do it again. I have been there 2 times and the last time it was recovered but within few minutes back down to no signal even the sim is in and out few time to check any mistaken positioning. At the end, mainboard replacement is suggested and of course not accepted. Nevertheless, they are quite friendly and willing to help, what exactly I need to ask for if I go back to them? stock rom? nvram? get these files back and do it myself via your instructions of how to do it?
well I think its nice they showed you how to do update.

the problem is...I have no way of knowing if you have completely unrooted phone.
they will void your warranty.....and rightly so....if you go back and they find you still have firmware/software showing you rooted phone.

so stay away for now....later....a different situation.

2) so why not ask them to email you the official ROM suitable for flashtools

no need to ask them for nvram at this stage.

3) I can't help with flashtools as its a windows program but
basically you will be reflashing.....back to original images

b) if no nvram is included in their email (likely) then use the tutorial and mobileuncle to restore IMEI.

c) if that fails.....and we are a long way from knowing that
then you can see advice from other CPA members in the tutorial for IMEI.

good luck
