help think i bricked the phone
i got pc to see phone so i used smart tools i changed download to firmware upgrade the scatter was loaded
removed battery and clicked download, i put battery back in and waited 10 seconds then it just failed but now phone wont come back on

can someone just confirm its broke and I will dump it cant be bothered anymore with it
I have a hunch that nothing really happened to your original firmware because the flashing process didn't start. Even if the OS is damaged, the phone is only soft-bricked. That means that only the firmware is damaged and you can therefore fix it (easily) using SP flash tools. Make sure that you have installed the proper VCOM drivers for the phone and repeat the firmware download process. As long as the firmware you are trying to install belongs in your phone, nothing should go wrong. There are tons of tutorials for using SP Flash Tools and I'm sure you can get one for your V8 - It's a terrific phone - don't dump it.

Please use 'download only' instead of any of the other options on SP Flash Tools. "Format all + Download" is particularly destructive because it formats NVRAM which holds critical data (IMEI, Wi-Fi MAC address, Bluetooth MAC address, etc.) for your phone.

One other thing... make sure you use the latest version of SP Flash Tools. Plus the phone should be disconnected from pc before hitting download. Thanks @snowboots for that reminder.

I'd tell you to remove the battery from the phone and let it sit for about an hour or two. Put the battery back in and try to start the phone - if SP Flash Tools did not start the download process, the phone might be able to boot.
Not sure Will is using flash tools. I think sp MDT. There's a guide in tutorials forum about drivers on win8 just in case

Man, an hour might be too much. Seconds is fine. Remove batt and press down on power button to discharge cap
I have the proper driver in for my phone the problem is now the phone makes a noise when connecting then you can see it in device manager (proper driver too) then 30 seconds later it disconnects ?
yup twistyplain is right. its a driver issue. particularly preloader. you have to re-do the installations. get the USBdeview program, real neat tool. uninstall mtk, yunos, etc from there

then you have to manually add legacy hardware in device manager to fix com ports.
look at the process here (a to g) [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] skip over the auto-installation
just ignore the error it will give and ignore the yellow mark.

not sure it will solve your sp mdt problem though. but works with flash tool
so will that fix the above problem connecting then disconnecting even though it showing for 30 seconds mediate usb vcom then disconnecting it keeps doing this in a cycle
Highly highly unlikely you hard bricked it based on your description. As mentioned by above posters, this is likely a driver/preloader issue.

Maybe somebody mentioned this, but try flashing with the battery out. Also try holding volume up and volume down (try both, not volume up and volume down at the same time) as you connect the phone to PC.

If all else fails, you can do a format, then "download" the firmware (as opposed to firmware upgrade).
ok i followed the following

a. Go to Device Manager, click on Ports.
b. From the menu bar, select Action -> Add legacy hardware -> Next
c. Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
d. Select Show All Devices -> Next
e. Click on Have Disk -> Browse. Then point to ...\MTK_USB_ADB_Ultimate\All MTK USB Driver 2014\All MTK Drivers\MT65xx Preloader\Win7\usb2ser_Win7 or usb2ser_Win764 for 64-bit -> OK
f. Under Model select MediaTek DA USB VCOM Port
g. Repeat b-e and select model MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port

i now have the two ports mentioned but they have yellow exclamation marks

I thought so too but I know of some older phones that got so confused that you had to leave them without the battery overnight. Once you put the battery back in in the morning, they'd boot up like they had never failed.

Yellow exclamation marks mean that the device(s) are detected but no drivers are installed for them so they cannot work. Use the device description or, better still, the hardware_id to find the drivers online then install them.
i was still able to flash rom
with exclamations still there
casn you tell me if a firmware has no preloader or cach can you just add them from a different rom ?
