Hi, I own of a Xiaocai G6 and I want to install the Google Play Store, I know there is already a thread about it but in order not to desvirtualize the thread with previous steps I have decided to open a new thread.
I have been reading about Android but the more I read the more confuse I get. I have read that is possible to make a copy of the state of the phone, an original rom, before change everything and that is important if you want to go back and as I don't know how all of this work I think I wil really need it in the near future. I have read that you need CWM to be able to install the Google Play Store but I want to save what is now on my phone before install anything on it. I am really afraid of crashing the phone. I want previously make a copy of the ROM and after that install the CWM. Really hope someone can help me telling me how to make a copy of the rom before modifying anything else because I don't have idea about even how to start.
Regards
Please can anyone guide me through make an exact copy of the ROM? tell me the steps and programs or a link.

This software will make a backup of your current ROM.

You should be able to install Google Play Store for the apk file which is found in this thread:
http://chinaphonearena.com/forum/Thread-Google-Play-4&highlight=google+play

Just download it, go to Downloads on your phone and install it manually.
If you have any issues installing the apk file go to Settings -> Security & Privacy and make sure that 'Unknown sources' is turned on.
If the install of the .apk doesn't work for you, you may need to root, install CWM and SD update with gapps.

I have been trying to install the drivers several times in my computer following the link [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] that you gave me but every time that I try it I receive the same error "A service installation section in this INF is invalid"

so the PC doesn't recognize my phone. Could you help me?

Hi guys, after a long time and too much attempts I could install the drivers and root my phone. Right now I want to make a copy of the ROM, so I'm suppose to use the [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] . I have download and unzip the file but I don't know what I have to do with the 2 .img file and .txt of the inside. Could you please explain extended to me? I have been reading a lot of posts but I don't know how can I must use this and install it on the phone.
Really need your help ASAP because I stuck a lot of time and now again.
Thanks in advance

Unzip them to a folder. Then download and run the latest SP Flash Tool (see Root forum MTK Tools sub-forum). Select the scatter.txt. Make sure only boot.img and recovery.img are selected. Then hit 'download'.

There is a more detailed explanation of some of the steps here:

Except use the files you downloaded for your phone.

At the end of the tutorial talk about to root the phone but I've already
root it. If I don't follow the latest steps (including number 10) Will
there be any problem? Will CWM work anyway in order to make a copy of the
ROM, what's my purpose?
Recently I've read that changing the boot and ROM IMEIs could be lost? How
can I previously make a copy of the IMEI of both SIM before install CWM in
order not to loose them in my Xiaocai G6.
Thanks for your help

Thanks for your helpYou can backup your IMEI with Mobile Uncle from Play.

Yes, don't worry about the rooting steps. Just follow the steps regarding how to install the ADB drivers and use SP Flash Tool. Just take it step by step and don't flash over your bootloader. You should be fine. Let us know your results.

The main reason to install CWM is to root if you can't root any other way. Also to install firmwares and easily install SD Updates/Patches. Though there is now an app that supposedly can install some SD Updates from within Android.

You can backup your entire install with CWM as well, but I rarely use that option. I just backup apps/data with Titanium. CWM also makes it easier to backup your firmware through MTK Droid Tools, which is different than a CWM backup/restore. I believe you should relatively easily be able to find a backup for the Xiaocai G6, so that's maybe not of concern. The truth is that I've rarely used custom recovery except for flashing SD Update firmwares.

Possibly greatest reason to do it? Because you can. Thumbs Up That's what half the fun of owning an Android mobile is.
