Does anyone know if Kitkat will be making its way down to Lenovo phones? (k910 specifically).
also random side note to any k910 users, when you go to:
system settings>about phone>system update - does your settings crash?
any info on either topic would be great

About settings crash... Probably just some kind of bug and hopefully it is going to be fixed in this ROM
EDIT!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not try this version. Just read some russian forums and there is proper guide to upgrade your phone to kitkat. WIll translate it using google translate as it manages to translate from russian to english pretty properly. The guide is in the spoler and here is a link to the rom [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
If there is gonna be something you don't understand, feel free to ask!!! Will try to explain in other words ;)

Warning:
When performing the following instructions may get broken smartphone. The entire risk of the repetition of steps you take yourself.
We consider the example VIBEUI_V1.5_1416_3_DEV_K910 . For other branches of firmware 4.4.2 actions are similar, except for some moments. That will be discussed below. Believe that adb installed and loader unlocked.
1. Download the firmware from the official site vibeui.com or link in the header
2. Download, if necessary, CWM .
3. 'll need to install the operating mode sideload . Revised me download the driver if necessary, and install: USB driver sideload .
4. For root-rights needed to update Chainfire Update supersu 1.93 , after the update of the Market does not fly
5. Copy the firmware archive to your smartphone.
6. Put files supersu and CWM in a convenient place - let it be the root of drive C: . You can put in a different place.
7. Connect your phone to the BB . Putting your smartphone in mode bootloader either team ADB reboot bootloader , or buttons.
8. Loading CWM command console fastboot boot C: \ recovery910en.img .
9. Choose install from SD card and agree. Wipes do not necessarily , when you install the firmware will format the system , Data , and naturally, cache . Edit the file updater-script is also not necessary, it is tested by me.
10. After installing the firmware does not get out of CWM . We return to the setup menu and select install from sideload .
11. recruit console command ADB sideload C: \ UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip . Forward when work is over.
12. Thereafter leave from CWM , load the system and set up right. Have as a result 4.4.2 and root access. possible installation problems. CWM may not start the first time, and the second too. May not work sideload - it was all about me and all the moments I wrote earlier on this thread. For peace of mind install antivirus and check the BB. Before installing the firmware, it is desirable - I had problems - disable protection. Otherwise there may be options when the reprogramming will be no errors, but the result will be a brick . Loader in 4.4.2 locked and run CWM you do not succeed. Rekaveri Factory modes and will not be available. These results were obtained k910 owners from China and Europe. In some cases, you can quickly return your phone to life, some will not work quickly. If you install other drivers may have to delete the first line of the script-Updater , which verified compliance firmware model. When installing K910_1_S_2_144_0075_140401 not get set on top of a newer version - it will also fix Updater-script . But while it is not necessary). After installing VIBEUI rekaveri changes to touch defects. But Factory modes and remain with it you can roll back the firmware back. The firmware K910_1_S_2_144_0075_140401 rekaveri full with the possibility of installing sideload .

That looks like the official Chinese ROM from Lenovo. Not quite stable yet, but it shows that Lenovo is working on a Kit Kat upgrade.
Beyond that, it looks like many are already working on Cyanogen for your phone.
You lucky duck, looks like you'll be enjoying Kit Kat sometime in your future!

Yeah, it can be pretty complicated, because chinese version of KitKat does not have gapps (which means that you will not have play store, youtube, gmail, maps and other google services). So yeah, it is a good call to wait a little bit more, because one day you will definitely see kitkat on your phone (international version with gapps).
About cyanogenmod, it is supported on A LOT of devices. Even some Mediatek devices got partially working Cyanogenmod. So it is not strange that it is coming to your phones. I HIGHLY suggest to use it because:
1. It has A LOT of additional functions.
2. No bloatware (clean android)
3. Great community and support.
4. You can tweak it in every way you like.
But firstly you should wait for normal version of KitKat, because even chinese KitKat is still in development and they release those ROMs as "developer previews". Good luck!

just saw this today, so good news to any Vibe X/ Vibe Z users. will come out pretty soon i guess.
I get the feeling I might have to manually update my phone though - because it still FC's after a factory reset when I go to system update.

I saw quite a lot of users on another forum forums who are using KitKat on their Lenovos. The only issue they discuss is getting Cyrillic alphabet on their phones, so if you are not Russian, it probably should be fine for you. Btw, as I understand, the ROM itself has only English and Russian languages.
