Interesting. I've heard of this issue before, but in all my time flashing have never had it happen to me.
I'm curious, did you copy the files themselves into the root directory, or the folder with the ROM in it.
Did the folder with the ROM in it have any strange characters?
And, where was the folder before you copied the files out of it to the root? (desktop? etc..)
Possibly something with folder permissions.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

I have a directory on c:/doogee where I dowloaded and extracted the SPTool RAR and the ROM RAR. When I tried to flash from there everything went wrong. Many different errors. When I copied the SPTool directory and the ROM directory to c:/ and I started the flashtool from there everything went fine. The folder with the ROM have no strange characters in it.

Hmm... Interesting Hennie. Thanks for the details. Okay, I'll note this in the SP Flash Tool thread.

just a confirmation and a little more details.
I had the same problem while unzipping the rom file: a file name included in a subfolder of "calibration" was too long when added to its previous branches and was stopping the decompression. I had to create a directory with a short name (i.e. "A") in the root of the disc for completing successfully the unzipping.

So I've got to wonder if your flash went fine in spite of the changes, not because of...I've never had ROM location or folder names affect a flash, over hundreds of flashes and many different PCs and OS.
I'm not necessarily saying the changes you made didn't fix the issue...Probably they did. But if they did, why were they required for you and hennie, but not for me and many others. I just get curious about these things. Call it OCD, whatever.
It seems it is a bug in the winrar program.
Please Google "winrar - How can I extract files with names more than 260 characters": I got inspiration from there.

Not necessary to unlock bootloader. That is the special thing about MTK. Can flash easy without unlocking

Just when I decided to flash, my phone offered a OTA-Update. So it went directly from 0617 to 0714. The NVRAM Error (fake wifi and changing Mac-adress) is still there and the reaction of the fingerprint sensor is even worse. It is not possible to wake the phone from sleep. That's really disappointing.

Do you mean that your MIX with 20170617 rom could do OTA-Update to 20170714 without first flashing 20170630 ??

Yes, I first wanted to flash 0630 because everybody said you have to do it to receive OTA's. But then a pop-up came up that there is an update available. So I did and it went to 0714.
