Hey, I saw a lot guys talking about update rom
What is it, and is it necessary to do?
And I've got also a black 'hole' what was said earlier in this topic (page 4), it looks like the 2 layers touchscreen touch each other.
If I bend the phone slightly you see the hole getting bigger, and if I release it/stop bending it, will be smaller/disappear after a few times doing this.
Anyone a better solution for this problem?

Yesterday I had same looking "hole", much smaller and it removed when I just touched it. Now it doesn't. The phone still respons everything, only colour is a lot brighter in "hole". If anybody knows how to fix it, let me know.
Hi, my phone arrived with this problem. Send an RMA to where I bought it. Their advise was a bit unclear (glass or just protective layer?), but I gently lifted the upper glass part of the display a tiny bit where the spot was. That worked, but after I had the phone in my pocket the watery spot returned, again and again. Then I used blow dryer with low heat. That seemed to have fixed it.

The first method activates GPS. That's done anytime you use an app that utilizes GPS.
The second method they line out is just copying the GPS.CONF, making no changes and then pasting it back to the phone.
The first method actually could be handy, as the engineering mode is built into the phone, but it's still much easier to use GPS Test from play. As opposed to navigating to engineering mode, turning on GPS, then tapping view. Just tap GPS Test and it will do all of that with a single tap.
It's very strange they make no mention of turning on AGPS, EPO or setting location (root required). None of which are required to get a lock, but will help you get it faster.
I know I'm pretty much putting a smackdown on fastcardtech, but they deserve it for this one.
Hi, is there a solution for faster GPS locking without rooting the device? Current poor performance is driving me nuts. A few days ago it locked after more than half an hour (with EPO and AGPS engaged and refreshed), but today even an hour out in the open was not enough! What is the root cause of this issue: bad software, poor hardware, human error (=my lack of understanding), ...?

Only when phone is charging it shows on top left red led, which also flash about every 10 seconds (charging problems?). It doesn't show up for example missed calls or unread messages. Also charger which come with it, didn't work well. Phone said Charging - Charger unplugged all time. Fortunately Samsung's charger works. Another question; when I play music and it plays song which has an ä or ö letter, it shows it on strange china letter. How can I get it to show correctly?
GPS works very well now. It finds location about 1-2 minutes. It doesn't have compass or gravity response, even though some sellers say to have them. Battery (2600mAh) isn't very good. It really easily gets run out, if you navigate or play. What comes to camera, pictures and videos look really good in Feiteng.
I think I'll today root it, but before that I'd like to know how does it get to recovery? If I hold Power and Volume Down, it will start and then android logo slowly disappear from screen. After that I have to remove battery and restart.
Hi, LED indicator is single color only (red)

Half an hour is way too long. It should be 4 minutes or less. This sounds like a hardware/antenna issue.
Some people have had very good success by soldering flat strip copper to the antenna and running it several inches within the phone.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

You were lucky. I got the H9500+ and have a T-Mobile SIM and AT&T SIM in it. T-Mobile gets Edge data no matter what APN settings I use. AT&T gives nothing. I just spent 30 mins on the line with AT&T technical support and the guy couldn't do anything. then he called advance support and apparently they said the phone was unsupported and there was not way they could activate data for it.
Bit of a blow really because it works great with both SIMs for phone and messaging but without data it is a total bust. Oh well, I guess I'll just ship it to my son in England and see if he has more luck.

I hope this helps others because I wasted many, many hours of my life figuring this out.

UPDATE. I woke up this morning and the phone is showing H/H+ for data and seems to be working very well. I guess AT&T did something during the night to activate the data. Happy camper now.

Try out with Gizbeat's tutorial which you can find from this forum. Let me know if you managed to root it.
Gizbeats tool "auto root MTK6589" worked for me. I suppose the Alps H9500 is the same phone as the Feiteing H9500. Would you know if there's any way I could get a custom rom on it?

I am going to buy a Feiteng H9500+ soon and I'm wondering how can I root it? Can someone link me to an easy way of rooting the phone?
Also, I can see that some people are having trouble with the GPS and so could somebody help me on how to fix that problem too?
Finally, are there any good ROM's for this phone?
Thank you for any help you can give me
