Hi
In peeking into the all the good deals offered by the companies linked to this forum you may come across phones that offer 3G as
TD-SCDMA
which apparently stands for ‘time division synchronous code division multiple access
roughly translates as only good for China networks not any where else
2) So for 3g lovers you are looking for WCDMA
which apparently stands for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access
3) 2G is GSM
which apparently stands for Global System for Mobiles
4) 4G in Australia is out of my price range but may be called LTE
which apparently stands for Long Term Evolution
but then rival technology means providers start adding names and so it might be easier to show link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G
key reference

hope that helps
