Hi,

I am in serious trouble. I have a mt6575 s4 clone. Which have internal storage 503 mb and phone storage 2.06 GB. My phone is rooted and by MTKdroidtools i have made two backup also in my laptop (plus clockworkmod backup in sd card). After reading article ( [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] ) to merge internal memory partition I have downloaded this file (Mt657xRepartition_EN.apk)..after went through shown step i come to cwm recovery and get this message-

E: can't mount/cache/recovery/command

E: can't mount/cache/recovery/log

E: can't open/cache/recovery/log

E: can't mount/cache/recovery/last.log

E: can't open/cache/recovery/last.log

ignoring this message i went for factory wipe/reset as discussed in the article. After that when i pressed for reboot my phone got dead. After that i have remove the battery and tried again to turn on but one blur screen came (i think its samsung boot logo which i have lost when i had rooted my phone). then i tried to open it again in cwm mode and succeed, but restore is not working from sd card...though those backup i made just before that partitioning operation. first it said- emmc & sd-ext cant mount...then i have formatted whatever i could...after that when i tried to restore again sd-ext.img not found...i have tried to restore from different way...but all the time failed...i have manually checked all the backup in my laptop and sd card..i couldn't find it anywhere.....pls help me...i have downloaded some rom for my phone (same baseband & karnel) but still its not allowing to install it..pls help...u can mail me at [email protected]
Likely you lost your backups because you formatted over then.

Possibly you couldn't restore originally because you changed your partition sizes.

Is the new firmware you downloaded SD or SP Flash firmware?

Have you tried to factory reset again?

ok, it is good that u had backup yr rom by MTKdroid tool in yr computer.

u said u cannot find the backup in yr laptop, I am quite sure it is still in yr computer, except you cannot recover by MTK droid tool.
when u first hit the big button "BACKUP" in MTK droid root n tools, the back up u made is not for card flash nor cable flash. u still have to do some work on it.

what u can do is to recover with yr back up in the computer

run the MTK droid tool, go to tab "root, backup, recovery", then hit the button "To prepare blocks for Flash Tool", then choose the file folder (yr backup made by MTK droid tool previously ), then choose file "files.md5", then hit "open", let it runs , it takes about 10/15 minutes

after finished. you should see a folder "!Files_to_FlashTool", then u can start to flash yr phone with this rom(try to use SP flash tool version 3.1316)

once u recover yr phone, then u can start to root, .........
then u can repartition yr rom to 2.5G/2G......, after u repartition , straight away, u had to flash a new rom by CWM(make sure u had put yr new card flash rom in the sd card)
Thanks brother...u just give my phone a new life. I had lost the hope to repair my phone. And the true story is i haven't seen ur reply even. yesterday i went through the thread again n found ur reply. awesome bro. Thanks a lot. Though it was really tricky. Because whenever i had tried to connect my phone with my laptop at device manager-COM Port its showing my phone found then within few second it was lost. After 2 days continuous attempt i just able to flash it and now sending my gratitude to u (stevenma61 ). would pls explain me in detail as u write--------[then u can repartition yr rom to 2.5G/2G......, after u repartition , straight away, u had to flash a new rom by CWM(make sure u had put yr new card flash rom in the sd card]

after u run the partition app (2.5g or 2gb or 1 or....) , then the android system in the phone has been wiped off, so there is no way u can reboot the phone in android, but u can reboot the phone to CWM recovery, so u have to install a new rom which u had copied to yr sd card. Then install the rom as u did to flashing a rom to a phone.

since u can recover the phone by flashing yr backup rom back to the phone, so u will be ok if anything goes wrong in between.

It is quite rare that the phone will be totally hard brick. But I had seen a guy's phone which was totally hard brick. I guest most likely the phone was short circuit/static electrified when the phone was plugging in n out the computer.

Boss that what we did actually....n the result is zero..u see after i flashed my phn i have found still the internal storage n phn storage is same...so wats the point to do it again...n do u think that emmc N sd-ext not mounting after using that partition program because of the phone cant reboot in android??

soory, forget to inform u that
u have to check the rom u have downloaded

go to check the zip file of the rom, if there is a file lk.bin, then remove it, because this file will change the partition.
open the zip file (the rom), if u see the lk.bin, then delete it, then put back to the sd card , then flash it again.
R u suggesting me to flash(the flash file is not downloaded, its my own rom backuped by mtkdroidtools) it from sd card? but previously when i have tried it (when my phone was soft bricked after using that partitioning tool) it shows emmc n sd-ext cant mount....again i cant find any lk.bin file anywhere though there are four zip file (userdata_nvram_only.ext4..system.ext4..data.ext4..cache.ext4) int the folder made by mtkdroid tools where as u said, thats files.md5 is located. some .bin (showing as VLC media file) file is there too, named uboot, nvram, nodl_secro, logo. Again some in files_to_flash_folder (logo, preloader, and uboot as .bin file).......

There are few major problems i'm suffering now....

1. Incoming call not showing caller id (no. n name) though that no. is saved in my phone(solved-it was my network operator's (sim) problem..i have replaced the sim.)
2. GPS not working (fixed through- [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register])

Any idea to solve those??? thanks in advance for ur continuous support..

to create CWM recovery rom format with the MTK droid root n tool. so we can flash/install the rom to the phone (but not restore, restore usually when u do a backup by CWM recovery)

run the MTK Droid root tool, hit the big button "to create updates for modified recovery", then choose the backup rom from yr phone which u made earlier, then choose the file.md5, then let it run, at the mtk droid root tool dialog box, u will see some files are not created, but just ignore it. after finish, u should have a file folder "!Updates_to_Recovery", and u have 4 zip files under the file folder, the one with the biggest size is the file that we need to install in CWM recovery , then u can use this to flash yr phone after u do the partition.

this is what i did with my Zopo Zp990 after a 7 gb internal storage partition
Boss-

"!Updates_to_Recovery" has created but i have six zip files (boot, DSP, logo, recovery, system n uboot) there. Where system is the biggest one. As u said earlier [to remove lk.bin file]..where to find that file?? Pls tell me more clearly step by step the total partitioning process...sorry that our communication level is not in the same level :-(

ANd so far i have understood i dont need to use sp flash tool to do this....really glad to know that coz the usb vcom driver is really tricky...its connect n suddenly disconnect...u have to totally depend on luck... thanks for ur continuous suggestions..
