If your gut is telling you to question if a site is legit or not, probably best to buy elsewhere
I sugest to avoid Aliexpress. I ordered phone from a seller with one crown from their
reputation system and after 50 days I still didnt receive it.

i am asking this because its the first time i am buying anything online and not because it looks fake (though i would like to hear from you how to evaluate an aliexpress store, is it just by counting Stars/Crowns it has recieved?)
Can the aliexpress Crowns be faked by the store owners?
Also as i want it to be shipped to India there is more risk involved. Is the Escrow payment sytem safe, will i get my money back if the store turns to be a fake one or the item gets misplaced on the way?
Thanks

tell me some other options .

You have on this site sponsor sellers
I echo what's been said above. I've never used AliExpress, but I avoid it in favor of more reputable sellers.

As has been said above, this site has sponsors who have been verified and are in constant contact with the site owner. If you buy from them, chances you'll have problems are very low. More than that, the site owner here is always really cool about stepping in and seeing what he can do to make sure you get treated right. As an extra bonus, there are 5% coupon codes you can get coming from this site.

For the record: I don't get paid to say any of this, nor do I get paid to help moderate these forums. It's just my opinion and experience. These dudes here are all steering you in the right direction. We're a small community who looks out for one another.
The crowns can't be faked.

The escrow system is garbage. They can send whatever they want and then it's your word against theirs, but generally if you use a seller with high rating (96%+), you should be okay.

Use DHL if you can afford it. The extra %15 is well worth the piece of mind. Especially if ordering to a place with questionable post offices.

As recommended by Wuddawaste, you can use any of our sponsors with confidence.
Just thought I'd put in a word with my experience using Ali-express.

I've been using it for a while and have over 25 transactions including 2 big ones ($>150) and as much as I've been using it, I've only had one issue with a seller but got my money back anyway.

If there's any advice I could give with buying from here it would be to check that the feedback of the seller is good ( I only buy from sellers with at LEAST 200 transactions), and just to message them about the product with the IM feature or just regular inbox's. They usually take a while to get back to you from my experiences, but the ones that do are usually the ones to buy from.

EDIT: and also if youre looking to find phones from ali-express, make sure you read the description all the way down to see the specs of the phone, cause Ive noticed that in the title they might say octa-core and then in the specs it will say a 6582 processor (which is quad). Just do all these little things to make sure youre not dissapointed and ask the seller for the real specs.
I'd have to disagree with choosing the ones to buy from based on them replying to you.

Especially if it takes several days. That's a terrible amount of time to wait for a reply to a pre-sale question and isn't a good sign you'll be well taken care of after the sale should an issue arise.

Generally speaking, if the shop has a high rating with a decent number of sales, yes you should receive the product you ordered in a timely fashion.

All shops will reply prior to you before the sale. It's after the sale and if you have any issue with the received product, how will the shop handle it. That's the big question.

Yeah I don't mean buy from them strictly if they reply to you, that's only one factor that I consider when choosing a seller, but obviously isn't the biggest one. And yes, if someone with low rep was answering my requests instantly that still wouldn't be a sell for me, so I do understand what you mean and I probably should have better explained that.

But I guess what I meant to say is that the sellers with high feedback scores that are fast to reply to you (with useful information) are the best bet to go with.

Yeah aftersale is a bigger issue I guess. I got lucky with buying a phone from a good seller. Asked a couple of questions after I received my phone and they discussed it with me over skype - obviously wont be the case with everyone on aliexpress though
