Just received the phone today, it came with 1.0.1. I've flashed this 1.0.3 firmware without problems and so far working good. date & time bug is not fixed, neither is the charging to 88% fixed. Flashed it with SP flash tools from the MTK tools section in this forum. OTG works, haven't tested NFC yet.
Whoever held back on flashing this version 1.03: if you have flashed the Ultimate version 1.01 with CWM and Root, do the following to update:

1. copy the update.zip file from the update download to the sd card
2. boot to CWM recovery
3. update the phone with the update.zip file
4. clear the cache and dalvik cache (does not hurt)
5. reboot phone and deny it to install the stock recovery (simply say no if asked) and install the root rights, you wil also be asked for this by the reboot function. Do not just remove the battery, do a reboot with the CWM menu function.

I did it on my phone and the Settings I had, the programs installed and the program and file storage partitions remain unchanged.

If you do not have the Ultimate 1.01 version installed, do this first if you want to have the program storage set to 3.5 GB and if you want to have root rights Smiling.
For those who want to test NFC but do not have a NFC tag, you can test NFC function (after enabling NFC via Setting) with any card like Visa, Mastercard or most smart card with an embedded chip. The phone will detect these card, but will probably say Device Not Supported.
Furthermore, I have found that NFC contacts on the phone to the back of the phone back case can be a problem. My NFC did not work until I "pushed"the two NFC spring contacts up slightly. Use a pin to do the adjustment.
Can anyone confirm air gesture is supported in 1.0.3?

I don't understand why i need air guesture Big Grin

First people invented mouse to control the screen effective then bored it and invented mouseless touch screen then try to use mouse in touch screen (OTG) then bored mouse and touch invented air guesture Big Grin

I like to touch it.

* Joking apart OTG is useful with Flash Drives.
"I don't understand why i need air guesture"
Totally agree,
even if it was working, I wouldn't use it, too many more convenient control options.
I'm sorry to burst your bubble guys but the air gesture is fake. It's just a really clever app which uses the proximity sensor to do certain actions like opening up an app or scrolling (like on the video). I downloaded a couple of apps which do the same thing and it works, just wave your hand above the proximity sensor and it scrolls or opens up apps or whatever you assigned the gesture to do. Even though its not really air gestures its still kinda cool because of the fact that you can operate the phone without actually physically touching the screen. By they way my phone doesnt have air gesture. I tried it with my LG Optimus P920 (yes, very old but upgrading soon).
Another thing I forgot to mention is that the samsung galaxy S4 has a dedicated air gesture sensor, it doesnt just use the proximity sensor. I was reading somewhere that it uses the proximity sensor, infrared and the air gesture sensor to pull off all the funky things it does with its air gestures. heres a link to a picture which shows all the sensors in the S4 [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

To everybody who already have your iNEW V3, can you check if another sensor is present like the air gesture sensor found on the S4. let us know.
The phone does have 2 sensors next to the camera, so it might be the proximity + a gesture sensor. (never mind, it must be the light sensor, not gesture sensor)

Sorry to nag again about this, but now i found out that not only, but both, my compass and gyroscope don't work properly when the phone is plugged in to the mains charger... they remain working when plugged in to the computers usb port tho... any1 care to test it? ^^

That, the battery only charging to 100% sometimes after deleting the battery stats, and 4/5 dead screen pixels, are the only 3 complaints i have about the phone, the rest is cool. Have had several ppl come ask me about the phone cause of how thin and good looking it is.
