Greetings, maurer, and Welcome to the Forum!
When you ask about the Tool not starting at all, do you mean some function of the tool or the entire tool application won't start running on your PC?
Please write as much detail as you can about all the steps taken before problem happens. That allows forum members to provide most effective assistance for you.
No, when I click on Download in Flash Tool and move battery out, put it back and connect with USB, nothing happened...
I still cannot restore my unrooted H9500+ MT6589 S4 Clone. The phones have no branding on them. The working one starts with the word Android and two circles swirl around the word. The phones have 1gb RAM and 4gb ROM (sticker says 32+8 but it's definitely 4gb ROM). The phone is identical in appearance to the Excelvan H9500+. It has the same build number (ALPS.JB2.MP.V1.2) but a different kernel version date.

I've created !files_to_flashtools and !updates_to_recovery from my working identical rooted phone. I'm using SP_Flash_v3.1328.0.183 & MTK Droid V2.5.3. on a windows 7 computer.
I can flash all files except the system/android file to the phone
I can then start the phone in CWM recovery mode.
It starts with all partitions unmounted.
I can mount /sdcard at this point
After I format the cache I can then mount '/cache'. This still leaves '/data, /system, /emmc and /sd-ext' not able to be mounted. '/System' will not format. It will say its formatting but it never finishes.
At this point I can then install my backup 'H9500_system_ut-130511-074106.zip' file. It opens the update package, says installing update, flash system , wipe cache, wipe davlik cach and then 'Install from sdcard complete'. The phone will not restart from here.
I can also part install the h9500_DRX_04 rom. It lets me chose a number of install options and then stops at 'formatting system 10%'.

No matter what I do I have problems with the system partition.

I can't work out why the system partition will not format. Is it because the phone is unrooted? Do I need to unroot my working phone and create an unrooted version of !files_to_flash tools and !updates_to_recovery?

Thanks again to stevenma61 for his help to get me this far.
I tried once again to fix my soft bricked phone. Does anyone have any ideas how I can format the /system partition?

It is the system partition that seems to be stopping me from restoring the phone. Formatting with SP Flash Tools doesn't help.

I have created several CWM restore images.
They all pass the 'Check MD5 Sums'.
They all erase and restore the boot image.
They all STOP on 'Restoring System'.

The soft bricked phone is not rooted. The phone used to create the recovery is rooted.

Maybe u need to change the rom, I am still testing it, so far the only fault is that I cant connect to the micro-sim network, the otherone is working fine.

The package inclues the ROM with scatter file and the latest sp flash tool.

Good luck my fellow brickers!Thumbs Up
