Yes I do have an mt6589 and have that problem over a year or so!!!
I'm also looking for a stock ROM for a pulid s5 mt6589T 2gb ram and 32 GB ROM, its have the same 3g problem and sometimes get reeaaall slow, but there is no way to find that specific ROM only 1gb ram and 2 or 4 GB ROM

What date is your original baseband and what model phone do you have?

Original baseband is MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V6.P1,2013/02/27 19:53 and i have model N9589

Mi rom is alice and mi modem name os modem_1_3g_n.img I put v7 and chance name the modem and permisions to modem_1_3g_n.img and reconociese the baseband moly....v7 and the radiofrecuencies in enginemode is 800 850 900 1900 2000 for wcdma but no conected in 3g mode only but 2g yes. The speed is low and i thik than no is wcdma mode. I trying whit v8 and change the name and recognice baseband bit in enginemode only has 800 850 2000 and 1800 NO 900 and no conected 2g neither 3g.someone had any idea?

Don't use this. It's a very old pack that fixed a very specific issue on a few phones.
