Huawei Honor 6 Plus: An Entire Camera System

Huawei officially released the Huawei Honor 6 Plus in Beijing.

An octa-core Kirin 925 chipset will be found at the heart of the Honor 6 Plus, with 3GB of RAM available and 32GB phone storage which is further expandable with a microSD. It will be sporting a 5.5 inch 1080p touchscreen. All these features will be powered by a suitable 3600mAH battery.

Interpolation and merging of the shots will be handled by the dedicated image signal processor

The monumental aspect of this phone is the camera specs. The secondary front-facing camera will have a maximum resolution of 5MP, while the primary rear camera system will have two 8MP sensors which will allow for 13MP photo shots. Interpolation and merging of the shots will be handled by the dedicated image signal processor implemented in Huawei’s very own chipset, the Kirin 925.

dual camera setup allows for a 100 millisecond focusing time

One of the two rear cameras has a 2.0 f-stop with aperture and auto-focus features. This will be working in tandem with a 2.4 f-stop camera with a fixed focus setup.

The dual camera setup allows for a 100 millisecond focusing time. The complete system will be able to catch low light images with significantly better quality than regular rear cameras, as two sensors simultaneously shooting will be able to absorb more light.

An important factor to be considered with this tandem-sensor setup would be the appropriate coupling of the two cameras. Huawei has addressed this by housing the cameras in a zinc-alloy frame, to keep the alignment, and ensure stability.

There will be both 3G and 4G versions of the phone, wherein the former is to be sold at around $320, and the 4G version is to be sold at around the $400 price mark.

It is very interesting how other high-end players, such as Meizu and Xiaomi, will respond to this new camera technology.
