excellent briefing burs Smiling

i usually transfer files from my pc through wifi with es file explorer, it works great with wifi bandwith limitations, of course, if I want to transfer to another android device you can use wifi direct with file explorer in both devices

if I want to transfer massive amount of files the fastest way to me is transfer from pc to external sd card, and then to the internal storage with any file explorer, es file explorer is again my choice

so really this partition map has no drawbacks to me, I think all android phones should come this way, and I think nexus devices do it so

In the case of transferring via SD, you'd need an extra SD card, an OTG adapter, or open the phone and have to put the SD card in and reboot, transfer, then swap back to your regular SD and reboot again.

You could also use the SD card you already have - assuming it's not too full to hold the files you want to transfer to phone storage.

Either way, you're transferring the files twice and resetting your phone at least once if you don't have OTG cable and extra SD handy. It's a clumsy situation when you should just be able to mount via USB and have it done with in a few seconds.

In the case of transferring via ES Explorer, it's slow and not always convenient to connect to the host PC through the network. Obviously if you're home and doing it, it's not such a bad situation.

Another option is to mount your SD card and copy files (if it has the space), then transfer them to phone storage. Again you're transferring the files twice and adding having to navigate ES Explorer to transfer them.

These are fine workarounds for the intermediate user, but for newbies it's a hassle and even for the expert, having the option to mount storage via USB is a big plus.

On top of it all - Factory reset wipes phone storage. Doh

I'm not sure I can see any positive to the current setup. If you could mount phone storage and factory reset didn't wipe phone storage....Maybe. But that's not the case.
Dear Gizbeat, i don't know if you are aware of this:

But if you are not related with this company/site, it is extremely unfair for someone to steal your work for his own profit.
Haha. I don't have anything to do with these guys.

Thanks for the heads up. Good to know a China shop respects my work enough to post it on their site.
Yeah, it's not right. At least they could append to their blog something like "credits go to" and attach a link to this original thread. It's basicaly a copy-paste from the first post (before it was changed), so even if they have the old rom version, which I don't see the link for, they would have a partition/flashing bug in it too Smiling
He may have done it just for SEO... Or perhaps he has no clue what he's doing. Regardless, there's no link to the firmware, but there are links to Chinaphonearena within the post (tools). It's all good boys. Thumbs Up
I have stock 1.0.1 rom installed , after reading and using some tips here , everything works fine for me (no crashes) , do you guys think I should upgrade to this 1.0.4 rom? does it mount internal storage via usb cable into the pc?
I recommend 1.0.4, but it can't mount internal storage in mass storage mode. If that's important to you, then I recommend 1.0.3 with applied partition mod.
is the whole 14gb partition available for installing apps and putting game data on it?? or again only 1GB for apps?

apps go to the whole partition as they were before to the 1 GB one, game data, pictures and anything else go to the same partition also, unless you use an external card then you have the option of writing some things in the internal partition like camera photos and videos, I am not sure about games you will have to try, other things like downloads and screenshots go to the external card no matter the settings you chose
